Softball Announces Class for 2016-17 Season

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University head softball coach Jamie Stanclift is excited to announce the signing of 10 future Wildcats and will welcome them in the 2017 season.

Brittany Pagan is an outfielder from Mira Loma High School in Sacramento, California and plays for the California Yard Sharks travel organization. She is a four-year varsity letter winner in softball and served as team captain for three years. Pagan also participated in Water Polo, Basketball, and Track & Field, and was named Athlete of the Year her senior year at Mira Loma High.

Pagan was named to the First Team All-League and was chosen to represent the Northern Team for the California Optimus All-Star Game her senior year. She intends to study Exercise Science at Baker and participate in ROTC.

Sydney Boaz is an infielder from Mead, Colorado and plays for the Triple Crown Stars travel organization. She is a four-year varsity letter recipient in softball and three time All-Conference player at Mead High School. She was named Academic All-State Honorable Mention her freshman and sophomore years, and Academic All-State First Team her junior and senior years. Boaz was named Defensive Player of the Year and helped lead her team to the Colorado State Tournament her junior season.

Boaz has achieved Honor Roll and Academic Letter Recognition all four years at Mead High School in addition to being a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council Secretary. She will major in Education at Baker.

Lexi Korte is a pitcher transferring from Iowa Central Community College. Korte was named a NJCAA/ICCAC 2nd Team All-Region Pitcher both seasons at Iowa Central. As a junior, Lexi started in 19 games throwing 115.1 innings and holding batters to a .291 average against her. Korte received NJCAA Academic All-American Superior Academic Achievement award her freshman and sophomore years at Iowa Central. She plans to major in Psychology at Baker.

Madison Allen hails from Hays High School in Buda, Texas. She was Academic All-District her junior and senior seasons at Hays High. Allen plays for Premier Fastpitch and formerly played for the Texas Stix organization, under head coach Mark Short. She plans to study Exercise Science at Baker.

Riley Swickard is an outfielder from Blue Valley Southwest who plays for the KC Bombers travel team. Swickard was named first team All-Conference her sophomore season, second team as a junior, and first team All-Conference as a senior. She was chosen for the MoKan All-Star game as a senior as well. The future Wildcat has been a member of the National Honors Society for three years, received Outstanding Senior Broadcast Media award, and Kansas Scholars Curriculum. She intends to major in Mass Media at Baker.

Peyton Maulbeck is an outfielder from Topeka Seaman High School. She plays for the Lawrence Phenix travel team and was previously a member of the Topeka Ice Storm with Wildcat teammate, Olivia Brees. Maulbeck has been a member of the Honor Roll at Seaman High School and she plans to study Education at Baker.

Jamie Haden is a junior catcher from Fort Dodge, Iowa transferring from Iowa Central Community College. She was named Academic All Region both years at Iowa Central and appeared in 38 games for the Tritons in the 2016 season with a .348 batting average, 39 hits, 10 doubles, four home runs, and 27 RBI. Haden intends to major in Education at Baker.

Kylee Bremer is a utility player from Baldwin City, Kansas. Her senior year, she was named Lawrence Journal World first team All-Area, first team All-League, and led the Baldwin High School Bulldogs to the 4A-1 State Tournament.

Bremer won two state titles with the Baldwin High School Girls Track and Field team her junior and senior years, placing both years in the 4x100 relay and javelin as well as Frontier League Champion in the girls javelin. She received the Bronze Award for Baldwin City Community Service. She will study Health and Physical Education at Baker.

Jazzmine Thorpe is an outfielder and middle infielder from Cedar Park High School in Cedar Park, Texas where she was named to honorable mention her freshman year, second team All-District as a sophomore, and first team All-District as a junior and senior. Her senior season, she was chosen to play in the All-Star game. Thorpe also plays for Coach Mark Short for Premier Fastpitch in Texas and plans to study Exercise Science at Baker.

Hannah Flynn is an infielder from Reno High School and plays for the Nevada Stealth travel organization. She was a 4-year varsity letter winner at Reno High under head coach Jim Pace and a team captain. Flynn was named Division 1 All-Region as a senior and will study Criminal Justice at Baker.
