Bachelor's Degree in Art Education

Build a Rich & Complex Foundation

As an art education major, you will grow as an artist, an appreciator of art and an educator to ensure you have the knowledge and skill to pass on your love of art to future generations. You will work closely with the art program and the Department of Education to pursue teacher licensure in the field of art.

Three Ways to Guide & Inspire Future Students

The curriculum for the art education major is drawn from three subjects:

  • Studio art | Learn to create by studying various media, form, expression and technique.
  • Art history | Learn about the art of others throughout human history and observe techniques and methods of expression used by the world’s greatest artists.
  • Education | Courses specific to teaching art along with general education courses prepare you to take on a classroom of your own.

Major & Minors

The Department of Mass Media and Visual Arts offers a major in art education, and students work toward licensure in art (preK-12). Minors are offered in art history and studio art
